Cycle from Raftery’s grave in Killeeneen to Kiltimagh

This cycle commemorates Raftery’s poem “Cill Aodain” in which he describes his return to Kiltimagh and his home in Killeadan. It will take place on the morning of Saturday 2nd April 2022.
The cycle will depart from his grave in Killeeneen in Galway with a small ceremony. Cyclists will travel through Kilcolgan, Claregalway and Tuam. They will pass through the towns and villages he mentions in the poem: Claremorris, Balla, Ballinamore and Kiltimagh. In Kiltimagh there will be a parade from the outskirts of the town to the Market Square where his statue is located. There will be an official welcome there to mark his return to Kiltimagh.
We are looking for strong cylists that would like to complete the complete 100km journey, intermediate cyclists that will join in Claremorris and Balla and family cylists that will join at Ballinamore to participate in this very historic event.
